Essential Summer Vacation Packing ListFor those with a serious case of wanderlust, summer is the ideal time of year to start penning itineraries and adding stamps to the passport. And with tons of fun vacations to look forward to, any fashion-lover has reason to get excited and want to go out and buy a whole new wardrobe to bring along to each resort and every new place.

And while we can’t stop you from doing so, we thought we would give you some direction for your summer shopping spree. After all, it’s never a good idea to head to the mall without a plan in mind, because you can come out with many things you never really wanted or needed. With that being said, below are some of the most fun fashions that will bring extra zing to your #wanderlust Instagrams and help you embrace traveling to its fullest.

1. Embroidered dress

Nothing says “carefree” quite like a flouncy frock with Spanish-inspired embroidery too pretty to resist. Take a look at the “Handcrafted: Summer’s Prettiest Trend” example on Lyst for some seriously swoon-worthy inspiration that will have you scooping up all the embroidered dresses you can find.

2. A ruffled maxi

Feminine and breezy, maxi dresses are a summertime wardrobe staple that are an easy throw-and-go garment that eliminate the stress of having to put together an outfit. Choose one with ruffles to pay homage to the trending silhouettes of the Victorian era. Finish the look with a stunning headband that will make you feel like royalty.

3. A plunging one-piece

We’d be remiss not to include a swimsuit in our summer vacation packing list, and with the one-piece revival in full force, picking up one of these swimsuits is a must. Fashionisers notes many different single-piece swimsuits that are trending for the season, but if you want something a little more sexy, we suggest a plunging V-neck variety. Easily throw on a pair of shorts or maxi skirt to bring you from beach to bar.

4. Slide sandals

Whether you’ve got every minute of your getaway planned out or you like to fly by the seat of your pants, you’ll need a stylish shoe that’s comfortable enough to guide you through all of your activities. Slides are the sandals of the moment, and they’re great for traveling because they’re easy to wear and won’t give you a blister on your first day exploring your destination.

5. A neck scarf

Travelista said it best, “If you’re looking to pack light and look chic while doing it, pack a scarf.” Many of us struggle with over-packing, so the scarf is a fabulous compromise to free up some space and add style to many of your outfits. Tie it around your neck for a Parisian look, or tie it on your head to mask dirty travel hair that hasn’t been introduced to a shower yet.

No matter where you’re headed this summer, beef up your suitcase with some trendy new threads, but don’t forget to pack the items that are just as practical as they are stylish. There are plenty of crossover pieces out there that will increase your comfort as well as your Instagram likes. Bon Voyage!
